A BREATH, A STAGE
Directing and Pantomime Workshops in Harmony with Nature
NATURE-BASED DIRECTING WORKSHOP
Purpose:
The main aim of this workshop is to encourage participants to rethink and experience the concept of stage directing in a natural setting. By integrating the sounds, rhythms, textures, and atmosphere offered by nature with creative directing techniques, the workshop aspires to provide participants with a fresh aesthetic perspective. It also offers an opportunity to explore site-specific directing methods by establishing a dialogue between nature and the stage.
Objectives:
• To move the concept of directing beyond the classical stage and introduce new methods of staging
• To view natural environments as “playgrounds” for creativity
• To reconstruct the relationship between space, actor, and audience
• To incorporate the sounds and imagery of nature into the creative process
• To enhance group collaboration and creative thinking skills in staging practices
A WORDLESS YET POWERFUL ART: PANTOMIME
Is it possible to tell a story without speaking? Yes! Because pantomime is the loudest scream within silence. You can reflect a child’s dream, a woman’s longing, or a tree’s dance with the wind. You tell it only with your body and your heart. Pantomime is not just a performance—it is a stance, an awareness, and a transformation. If you’re ready to experience this, let’s meet not on a stage, but right in the heart of nature. Let’s set words aside and invite our bodies to speak.
Held for four days, three hours each day, this workshop aims to strengthen participants’ physical expression within nature, allowing them to express their creativity through the art of pantomime while cultivating an inner connection with the natural world. Participants will experience the power of silent expression, discover the harmony of the body in nature, and expand their storytelling capacity through silence.
Objectives:
• To develop body awareness and expressive capabilities
• To gain experience in using natural spaces as performance stages
• To learn how to convey stories through silence and body language
• To improve group harmony, rhythm, and collective creation skills
• To deepen one’s relationship with nature through physical expression
